My name is Larry Flood and I am 43 years old. I was raised on a farm in New Jersey and from an early age, I was fascinated with Motorsports, Dragracing, Nascar, Monstor Trucks, you name it. I saw my first tractor pull when I was 10 and I was hooked.

I built my first mini rod tractor in the early 1980’s and in a couple of years I was up to 900 horse power in my tractor. I pulled throughout Pennsylvania and on the TNT Circuit for over eight years. In the late 1980’s a couple of my friends and I got into dirt track racing in New Jersey. I raced for 8 years, had fun and learned a lot. I also built all my own motors, bodies and did all my own welding fab work.

When I moved to North Carolina in 2001, I discovered that there was a lot of tractor pulling in the area including a Mini Modified class. In 2004 I started collecting parts and did my research.. The result was a strong rear end transmission to cut down on breakage. Next, I built my own motor with the help of Richard Midgette who is the in house motor builder for our Monster Trucks at The Grave Digger.

My motor is a 540 cubic inch Chevy, 14-71, blower, fuel injected running on alcohol. It produces 1800 horse power. The tractor weighs 2000lbs with wheel speeds around 130MPH It is like driving a tornado!!!!!

In 2006 my tractor was finished after two years. Now the fun started. The first time out I finished 6th and 8th out of 11 tractors but after a few adjustments moving the motor forward and changing the gear ratio, I moved up to 2nd both Friday and Saturday nights. My first year out with a new tractor I had two wins, was 4th in points for the year and was voted Rookie of the Year! 2007 and 2008 were steady improvements on the circuit. In 2009 I was Overall points champion with 4 wins. My job as shop foreman of the Gravedigger Monster truck has provided me with great experience and access to parts and support. I have been having a great 2009 and I am looking forward to an even better 2010.
